This image is composed of 18 individual shots taken at 200mm. Downtown Rumford is located on a semi-island in a bend of the Androscoggin River–this image looks north and the Androscoggin and the Pennacook Falls (177 foot drop down toward Rumford) were behind me. Rumford is the site of a large paper mill (still in operation although with employment at only a quarter of its peak) that is located beyond the crest in Congress Street in the middle of the image. Many of the clouds in the image were produced by the mill, and as the birthplace of Edmond Muskie, Rumford and the Androscoggin were an impetus for the Clean Air Act, which he authored.
