This image of driftwood in the Lapakahi State Historical Park on the west coast of Hawaii's Big Island is composed of 12 individual shots taken at 200mm. I took them mid-morning with a hot sun beating down from almost directly overhead, but I couldn't resist the intricacy of the driftwood against the blue blue blue water of the Pacific. The specular lighting led to many hours of work in Photoshop as I tried to counteract its harshness with numerous masks and curves, but through it all, the lines of the tree shown like a beacon bringing me back to harbor.
